Easter Island

Easter Island or Rapa Nui was discovered by Polynesians about a thousand years ago. Europeans sailed to it on Easter Day in 1722. The unusual culture produced great statues, a script that remains unread today and its own religion. Unfortunately, many details of the history of the Rappanese civilization have been lost during several tumultuous centuries of the island’s history. To learn more you have to go underground, into the caves that wind beneath the statues. Our expedition discovered and explored more than 300 such caves. We found traces of life and existence in the caves, and even tombs….
